Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all the things you have to do in a day?
What might be compounding the problem is the amount of information coming at you all at once, from the tv, radio, billboards, internet, emails, cell phones, Facebook, sometimes it is so hard to keep up! Sometimes I feel like I have to work on the weekends just to keep everything together, and then all of a sudden, Monday is here and I had no time for myself to relax my body, feed my spirit, clear my mind.
STOP!
Sometimes, the best thing we can do for ourselves is stop everything, take a break, spend time with the family, your puppies, a good book, or just laughing at a silly movie. We must take time for ourselves to nourish our bodies, minds and spirits and rejuvenate. That can be hard to do when you have projects looking you in the face, a house that needs cleaned, and the list goes on.
Here are some suggestions to help you take some “me time”:
First, close Facebook and social media and put down the phone, shut down the computer. Go in and quickly clear the emails, delete the spam (or unsubscribe); each email service allows you to delete in bulk, so if you don’t know how, Google it and learn by watching a YouTube video (I personally find minimizing the emails and just checking them 3 times a day is better for me than reacting and responding to them as they come in. This allows me to focus on my projects, not someone else’s.) To prevent missing an important email, you can set up an alert when an email comes in from someone you identify as important (also Google if you don’t know how). Problem solved.
Quickly tidy up the house to clear your mind. If you take time to put things away neatly initially, that can also help you keep a clear mind as you walk through a room. There’s nothing better than knowing most things are in their place when you sweep through a room to keep your mind clear. If you’re in a hurry, move things into a closet and shut the door. Then set some time on your calendar, even if it is room by room, to clear out your house. Your mind will thank you. Everything collects “energy”, and by releasing things (and sharing them with others!) you are no longer using you can clear the energy from your home, and it will become a more calming place for you to relax and enjoy. Who needs all that stuff anyway, and you’ll thank yourself when you move.
Make a list of all the projects that are weighing on your mind that need to get done, and put them on your calendar before their deadlines. That way you’ll know you’re not missing anything that really needs to be done.
Now sit back, relax, and take some time to JUST BE!!!
