What are you giving?
“We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from life.” William Osler
Since we ultimately get what we give in life, it’s time to reflect on what you are putting out there into the world. If you give love, you get love. If you give joy, you will receive joy. If you put out thoughts of jealousy or dislike, it is likely you will receive that back in return. If you are carrying bitterness that may be what you are giving out and likely what you will get back.
You naturally, whether you realize it or not, put out a “vibration” or feeling. Have you ever walked up to someone and just “felt” like they didn’t like you? Have you ever felt so happy and could actually feel the joy radiating from someone. We are able to feel dislike or love through the vibrations and feelings others are putting out to us. Some people vibrate at a lower level, some at a higher level. I believe the more conscious you are, the higher your vibrational level, but there is no right or wrong. You are exactly where you are meant to be in your vibration as we are all in different places at different times in life.
I read this beautiful quote the other day, which inspired me to do a radio show and a presentation to help benefit others: “Give give give! What is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if you don’t give it away? Of having stories if I don’t tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don’t share it? I don’t intend to be cremated with any of it. It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine.” Isabel Allende. Each day I would like to share one kind act to someone, no matter how big or small to feel the joy from giving and helping someone else.
No one is perfect, and we all slip up. Sometimes you get caught at a bad time, and you can’t help feeling bad when someone walks in just oozing with joy. Sometimes we feel like we just want to share our misery when we are feeling really bad and bring everyone down to your miserable level! What if instead you could receive some of that person’s joy and change your misery into at least feeling hopeful! The good news is that God’s mercy is new every morning, and you have a choice every day to help others. Particularly when we aren’t feeling too positive or happy, that is the BEST time to serve others. It will remind you of all the blessings you DO have, and soon you will be feeling GRATEFUL! And the BEST part is you will be helping someone else.
Did you ever hear the phrase, “You get what you give” before? What are you putting out there into the world? In order to get love, you need to give love, and so on. How can you make a small change in order to change what you are receiving from the world?
