I had the great pleasure of meeting I Am Genie (a/k/a Joshua) this weekend. Such an uplifting and wonderful inspiration, Josh a/k/a The Genie does this by donning a mask and helping save the world one good deed at a time via his wish granting for everyday heroes. by spreading love.
The I AM GENIE Foundation is a wish granting organization focused on inspiring people to serve others and do a good deed today. Their mission is simple. They want you to BE GENIE and grant a wish by doing a good deed. It may be as simple as smiling, holding the door or offering your seat on a crowded train. Or, as grand as buying a car for a mother who really needs it. It really doesn’t matter. They just want you to do something nice for another. Right NOW. This is the simple path to peace. Taking ownership of your Genie responsibility to serve.
Joshua’s father passed away at the early age of 54 and a genie was born. After some soul searching, he decided to start doing something everyone thought was a little crazy by dressing like a genie and surprising Cancer victims and survivors with their dream days. By honoring these heroes with a wish and shining a light on their stories he hoped to inspire others to be More Genie-like. It’s worked…
Featured in Over 250 Media Stories Throughout North America, The Dream Day surprises started in 2009. The mission was and is simple: to make a hero’s wish come true and shine a light on their story. Since then, the Genie surprised over 70 heroes in 60 cities throughout North America while being featured in over 200 media stories on Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, CW, CBC, NTV, City TV, CTV, Global and in many newspapers including the New York Daily News and Miami Herald.
Josh and I connected recently at a Writers Workshop in South Florida. His engaging personality and thirst for life and helping others was truly refreshing. Josh was very down to earth and personable in spite of his great success as The Genie. I wish Josh and the I Am Genie Foundation great success as they continue to pay it forward.
